Basically, I'm on support crew for a multi-day race and I've been tasked with planning out the relay stops after a rider has traveled for a certain amount of time. The mileage will vary due to the grade of the road. Can someone point me in the right direction for figuring this out? Much appreciated!!!
For most stage races, the riders don't stop until the end of that day's race. They may slow down a little in a designated feed zone for a musette or get a few bottles from a team car traveling in the race.
You can use the average speed of last year's race or a Garmin (or others) gps file from a racer who did the course last year. Plug the file into a web-based site like Strava, Garmin Connect, Bike Route Toaster, RidewithGPS, etc to find the best places along the course based on time in the saddle.
