What's this opto-electronic thing? 1

Hi there folks. I wonder what this part is? (Attached pic). It came from a laboratory close down dedicated to laser R&D. It seems to me a kind of sensor in 1000nm range (since it has a "1000" written at some places? It seems to be built to withstand a nuke (vacuum chamber ready?). It weights 15.65oz and it has a kind of fiber optic coupler at one side. The window has yellowish coating confronted to light... what would be the technical name for this thing?

That makes sense - that connector has what looks a lot like a ceramic insert that I would expect for a high-voltage connection.
