Hi Greg and everyone else,

The question is, "by design, how much clearance from the tire to all surrounding parts is required."

Before you answer, here is what we've done so far... we have the maxim tire profile from TRA, we put the suspension through the full range of motion and we added snow chains. Now what???

Thanks for the help!

You need to allow for elastic deflection in bushes and so on (including overtravel inthe suspension due to body deflection), and manufacturing tolerances. The tolerance stack from the wheel right round to the fender lip is a complex beast, and if you end up with an answer of 10mm I would not be surprised in the least.

One approach is to stick lots of foam at strategic points in the wheelhouse and go for a drive.

Cheers
