Update your graphics card driver.
If you can find your computer or graphics card in this spreadsheet from Siemens, use the driver linked there: If not, you're most likely running an uncertified card, so will have to try various drivers to find a driver for your card that works.

no that did not work. IT has the ability to update not me. It is not an uncertified driver. Seems I a the only one this is happening to unfortunately

Is your assembly load option set to "minimal load"? That loads lightweight bodies that sometimes don't shade correctly. Try the "load fully" option (or right click on a component in the assembly navigator and use "load fully") to see if it makes any difference.

Also, check the color settings in the assembly file. I recently opened an assembly to find all black components. I thought I'd need a driver update, but it turns out another user was creating a specialized illustration and had intentionally changed the assembly color settings.

I had a graphics card become unable to display videos. They break. Most irritating was that the replacement was a tiny fraction of the original cost, but it worked and didn't require changing anything else.

I just started at this company been working on NX for less than a month. Now I must say I am 53 and have been on 3D cad since 89. So I am not spring chicken. I have looked at the assembly colors rendering all the graphics settings. this computer it as old as my job here I got it new as a new employee. I have used this forum for at least 15 years for Solid Edge, and Catia, so now NX

So Neither I nor any other user so far can figure this out. O can work but what a pain in the a$$. I will keep working on it until I figure it out or someone here does. thank for your help though

I am pretty sure that i have read about this issue somewhere, and that there was a reason/solution.
Do some heavvy googling on this.

( The only thing that comes to mind is the graphics driver / or graphics adapter.)
What is the graphics adapter btw ?

Regards,
Tomas

The more you know about a subject, the more you know how little you know about that subject.

I gout our IT department to fix this issue

what he did was edit environment variables and enter JT_OGL41=1

That leads me to this:

Which mostly paint a failed driver version as the culprit.

"This fixed it for me:
I had the same problem earlier this year and reverted to an older driver which worked (472.84).
I just tried to use the new driver that was released this week thinking this issue might be solved (512.15). But the Black assemblies remained."

"Now we have feedback from PLMS,

once again, NX1926 Series + NVidia graphics driver newer as version 472 = display problems (black components if the are loaded as lightweight representation. I can change to exact representation, then it is also ok, but this is not ok if we have big assemblies.

With the new version NX2007 (series) and a new Nvidia driver, we have no problems.

For NX1926, Siemens asked me to test the environment variable JT_OGL41=1, and for us this variable works fine. No black parts with NX1926 + Nvidia driver 512.xx
In TC Visualization 12.4 I also can switch to the OpenGL Version 4.1, and also here this helps, no black JT files.
My guess is, that Nvidia changed something in the opengl control and NX had a problem with this. But only a guess!"

well maybe I did have IT update the driver for me (don't have admin rights here). That did work and I am not what you call computer savvy. I run software LOL. Anyway they did get it to work so that is all I am really concerned about. Thanks to everyone for their help in this matter.
