Hello, Deal All,

Can anybody give me some hints which type of elements I should use to model Cable in ABAQUS? The cable could have different stiffness. Should I just use different E (Young's modulus) values to simulate this different stiffness? Thanks a lot.

Have a look at the "*No Compression" keyword (also in CAE, Material Options).

This can be used with just about any elastic element, but watch out for convergence problems.

Hello, MyMyers/All,

Forgot to ask you one more Q: If the Steel Cable is mainly to sustain Axial Tension but can bear little or no bending moment, is there any special Element I should choose? ALso, should I set the cable material to have a small Young's Modulus to achieve this? Thanks again.
