Which ( types of) companies usually need a solidworks macro scripter? 2

Hi all

I would like to know which types of companies have this kind of job and is it possible that the company would have a continous work on macro scripting

I would think any size company, but more likely in larger companies with 20-25 users rather than just 5. I doubt it would be continuous work, but a sporadic 12 month stint. That's been my experience, but industries and regions vary greatly.

Nobody needs one full time.

It is a valuable skill that is not valued. No one really wants to pay for macros. Users think everything should be free on the internet. Most "clients" want to pay $50 for 12 hours of work. The people who need the macros are not the ones who write the checks.

the tick is right.
some big (automotive for example) companies have dedicated "methods engineers" (for cad), but they usually don't use solidworks and don't do macros only in VBA.
Kaydon probably has an add-on automating the design for their (for example slewing or those plastic) bearings, because they have a couple of product families, but dimensions can vary from product to product (design-to-order). but that add-on is much more then a macro.

There are some VAR's that offer some type of custom macro programming or have developped some tools to sell to their clients. That may be what you are looking for.
