I was shocked seeing the BIG BANNER "you don't have the privilege to post here ?
your site is Great, just don't corrupted it with destructive ideas from British dinosaurs clubs

? I've only been here 20 years and have never seen a message like that. Perhaps there are private forums which are invite only, maybe, for posting? A screenshot would be good.

Perhaps you are talking about this one?

It is using privilege in the computing sense read/write/delete privileges, not the woke social sense.
What it means is that the Group in question is read only until you join the Group, which may be by invite only.

I struck this message for the first time a couple of days ago, trying to contribute a question to the Engineering Language/Grammar Skills forum. How does one "engineer" an invitation to such a forum?

Thanks, IR. That page did have a Join Group button, which morphed into a Leave Group button after I clicked upon it.

I do not yet actually have write-access to the site of course. This hopefully follows once the box is examined for any black balls.

HI Denial

I did invite you to the group a few days ago and it appears you have accepted. Are you still not able to post in the group?

Thanks

I think it's more about keeping the discussion on topic rather than dominating it

My apologies, Jon. I have not been monitoring things adequately over the last few weeks.
Yes! I have had posting rights to that group pretty much since I lodged my request. Thanks for your rapid actioning.

Do I need to be invited to the "Engineers with Hobbies" group to join? There's a join button, but when I click it, I get an error as seen below:

I kinda had assumed that it's because my post count is low (been consistently lurking for almost three years, just never posted), but I'm not entirely sure if that's the case or not, and I don't seem to be able to message anyone about it either, as seen in the screenshot.
