The following may be also in AISC:

I use AISE's old copy of Manual for design of Mill Buildings(1979). I love the manual especially after noticing that the great Fisher also made references to it.

1) Have the manual been updated?. If yes, by what the latest.

2) The manual RECOMMENDS max. 50kips load on brackets for brackets supporting crane girders. Otherwise you are supposed to place a column to carry the girder. what is the reasoning behind this?.

the latest tech 13 is from June of 1997. As to your second question I'm not sure of the limit but it is still in place in the newwer design guide
 
Tnanks par060 and Quadri. I guessed it was fatigue, but thought there were tests etc which proved the 50kips number.
