why this surface surface contact has caused like tied effect?

I modeled two piece of ｓｈｅｌｌ　ｗｉｔｈ　ｓｕｒｆａｃｅ　ｔｏ　ｓｕｒｆａｃｅ　ｃｏｎｔａｃｔ,　Ｉ　ｊｕｓｔ　ｗａｎｔ　ｔｈｅｍ　ｎｏｔ　ｔｏ　ｐｅｎｅｒｔｒａｔｅ　ｅａｃｈ　ｏｔｈｅｒ,　ｈｏｗｅｖｅｒ,　ｔｈｅ　ｅｆｆｅｔ　ｏｆ　ｔｈｅ　ｃｏｎｔａｃｔ　ｂｅｈｅａｖｅｓ　ｌｉｋｅ　ｔｉｅ　ｔｈｅｍ　ｔｏｇｅｔｈｅｒ,　ｃａｎ　ａｎｙｏｎｅ　ｈｅｌｐ　ｅｘｐｌａｉｎ　ｔｈｉｓ?
