Wide range PH analyzer

Hi,
Can we use PH analyzer for a stream with wide range of PH, like 1 to 14?
Some of my coleagues say we have to use "conductivity analyzer" instead. Is that true?

Have same needs and found out (suprisingly!!) that the least expensive instrument for PH and Conductivity (in one instrument, two 4-20 ma Outputs and Hart Comm.) is by Rosemount Analytical, Model Solu Comp II™ Dual Input pH/ORP/Conductivity/Resistivity Analyzer

Maybe you will not achieve the same performance with the same electrode over the entire range of pH.
