I am running a windows 7 laptop, I have had wildfire 4 student edition installed for years and it has run fine. Now if I open the program, it displays then closes. I figured out if i take my pc offline, it will not close. Why would it do that all the sudden?

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I noticed mine starting to do this now too and I never changed anything. Now if I turn my computer offline it works just fine.

Nope. I have been working offline ever since. Maybe it is no longer supported and they are trying to get everyone to upgrade?

Even with a stand alone license, PTC products need to communicate with the license server and the authorization codes are tied to the NIC. A lot of laptops have two NIC's, on wired and one wireless. Windows will reorder these cards when you plug/unplug a wired connection or connect to a wireless hotspot. There is a way to edit the registry to fix the order of the cards so Windows doesn't pull the rug out from under you.

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.

There could be a license check against a DB at PTC that when online fails. Offline and the system will still run.
