For Wildfire users:
How many premature exits you encounter per day, on average?
We have installed wildfire 2003370 so far, and we are questioning its stability. Do you find that using wildfire slows down your production work? We have to decide when we will switch 100% to wildfire, and I am trying to get a feeling on how much "pain" it is or was for other companies.
Thanks for all your input.

6 or more

Have you not learned yet.
DO NOT QUESTION PTC.

Do you find that using wildfire slows down your production work? No, PRODUCTION STOPS FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH then starts to trickle up for about 3 monthes until you become about 50% as efective prior to wildfire.

I am trying to get a feeling on how much "pain" it is or was for other companies. I have been on the piece of garbage for 3 monthes now. I have relearned how to draw model and this week I am doing some really advance surfacing. (A chrome bathroom faucet)where surface quality is the most important feature. After a week I am having to start over from scrath. I would have been done in 2001 buy now. I have honestly asked our system administrator if a lawsuit would wake those bums up?

I am thinking of becoming a dog catcher.
My be I will respond more favorably after I get this blasted faucet done.

We have been using ProWildfire since its launch.
our biggest problem was getting existing users to convert once we gave them no option ie all new projects had to be started in wilfire that gave us a few moans for about a week. Since then we find Wildfire far more productive than 2001 and very stable (some of our assemblies are 2000+ parts).

I am not sure how many 'crahses' I average per day (some days none at all), but I know that most of them are related to attempting to redefined a fillet that has failed due to earlier geometry being changed. I have had a lot of problems with earlier builds of Wildfire, but I have found current builds of Wildfire to be no less stable than 2001.

Initially, I despised Wildfire because of the interface and command changes and so I kept on using 2001. After a while I force myself to learn Wildfire and now I will not go back. My productivity has improved much now that I have understood the changes in Wildfire.

Are there short comings, yes I believe that there are, but not just of the product itself but rather PTC’s handling of issues. PTC delayed the introduction of Wildfire and I believe that it should have bee delayed more until it was more robust. Overall I still maintain my love/hate for ProENGINEER. I love it because for what I do it is far better that the UG, I-deas, and CATIA that I also use. I hate Pro/EGINEER because I have become very demanding of it and I always expect more. I hope things improve for you.

I think that there is a re-learning curve and like all things one you adapt it will be all right.

I still like commands better than icons.
This global trade issue I am sure made the icon driven change necessary for PTC but I prefer good old fashioned english.

I still blow out of pro 6 times a day or better.
I think it is a combination of too many advanced styled features and some small tiny edges that I have over looked properly attaching spline ends to. I blew out of 2001 the same amount also. SAve and save often is still a good rule to live by.

Today is a new day.
I hope I have a better PRO/E day.
It has fed my family and paid the morgage.

But it is 55 degrees out side and sunny.
Being a dog catcher is not such a bad prospect:)

thank you all for sharing your pros and cons, I am amazed how some people are so confident in wildfire's stability, while others still find it terrible. I heard that 5 exits/day is normal, but that is a bit too much...there are days when we have no crashes, and others when we have 3-4, usually using the style and advance feature creation.
Are all of you using supported graphic cards? This is a major concern with wildfire, and it was not so critical with 2001. we are shopping for new ones, and hopefully that will help.
