I have seen another thread where someone mentioned this.

If we do sheating on timber rafters with wooden boards, does that achieve, that horizontal forces get transfered to bearing (shear) walls in a direction of a wind force, since wall perpendicular to its plane is not that stiff. Im asking this in a case that we have wooden pillars that support roof - pillars are not able to act as cantilever since wood cant be fixed at supports. Is it safe to assume that these pillars are loaded only verticaly? But if that was the case we wont use knee braces?

If you are asking if board can be used as sheathing, yes. However at least the CSA code requires that they are either T&G or installed diagonally.

Tongue and Groove. It means one edge of the plank has a groove cut into it, the other edge has a tongue cut into it. When installing the tongue from one board fits into the groove in an adjacent board. Nails are then installed to maike the two boards act as one.
