Ok I've always been a bite the bullet kind of guy (except I am still on XP LOL!) so...

Is NX compatible with Windows 7 and if so does that include 32 and 64 bit?

And while we are on the subject, we still use I-deas as well. Any word on that as far as windows 7 goes?

As I suspected, the answer is NO, there will be no attempt to test and/or certify NX to operate using the 'XP/32 virtual' option in Windows 7, if for no other reason than that it does not support accelerated graphics and therefore does not provide an acceptable environment for running NX. In the end, the issue is NOT whether it will run or not, but rather will it be usable, and the consensus is that it would fall short in meeting several of our minimum criteria and therefore does not merit any further consideration.

Our position is that since we fully expect that NX will be certified to run straight-up on Windows 7, that there is nothing to be gained by even considering running it under this 'emulation' mode.

Thanks John,

That is at least what I wanted to know. At a guess until clarification of driver support is fully available I'd have to say that the older the version the less certain that I feel about the availability of device drivers that fully support CAD graphics in particular.

Due to previous cautionary experience I'm more or less happier to wait a while. We had the devil of a time trying to find graphics drivers that supported NX-3 through NX-5 under Xp/64 for some time previously. Some users may recall or remain mindful of why I'm not as fully enthusiastic as others.

Well at least the 32-bit world is a little more forgiving as I've got every version of UG/NX since UG V16.0 installed and running on my Dell M65 laptop - Windows XP-32.

Using NX6.0.3 on Win 7 Professional 64 and so far its been flawless. Forget Vista, Win 7 is what Vista should have been. It works, its lightweight, its responsive.

Hi Hudson
Purchased, at home I use one of the RC candidates (betas) and it too has been flawless. Driver supprt has been reallly good, unlike the Vista fiasco.
