WinSocket Error???...Help!!!

Ok, i tried to install I-DEAS NX11. But when i want to start it the typical error 'loss of communication with i-deas license daemon'. Ok, then i looked for the failure.
lmtools gave me following message:

The strange thing is, that when i want to start daemon 'lmgrd.exe' my processor is used to capacity (100%), but nothing happens...

So i thought, that maybe the port of the daemon is incorrect. I saw some license file of you where the port is set to '7610'. So i changed mine in the same way (originally installed with '7611'). But it didn't help.

Ok, so i really don't know any further. I don't know whats with this Winsocket failure.
So please can somebody help me???

The Winsock failure is a little odd, but treating the issue as simply that the License deamon won't start then have you correctly set the Environment variable "LM_LICENSE_FILE"?

If so, using the FlexLM GUI what does it report when you Start the daemon?

I'd also leave the port the same as installed. 7610 was used for 10, but that doesn't mean it should be used for 11.

sorry, i don't know what you mean with the environment variable "LM_LICNSE_FILE"...

i think you mean with FlexLM GUI the lmtools.exe?!?! ok, if it is so, he reports that the server is started successfully...but the server status is like written above...and my processor is used to 100% capacity and nothing changes...so the problem is that he can't start the lmgrd.exe, but i don't know why...

FlexLM can be helped along with the "LM_LICNSE_FILE" environment variable.

If you're on XP then:
Control Panel
System
Advanced Tab
Environment Variables
Under the System Variables pane select New
Against Variable Name type LM_LICENSE_FILE
Against Variable Valie type C:\Programme\I-DEAS11\sec\EDS_ID11.lic
OK
OK
OK
Reeboot your machine

By FlexLM GUI I mean the black FLEXlm icon in the Control Panel that should have appeared after installing I-DEAS (it does for all versions up to 10 but haven't loaded 11 yet) It's the FLEXlm License Manager.

On the Control pane your looking for
"<Hostname>: license server UP (MASTER)"
when you select the Status button.

One more thing to check, under
Network Connections
Local Area Connection, RMB Properties
TCP/IP
Properties
Advanced
WINS tab
Is the "Enable LMHOSTS lookup" checked?

Ok, the hints with the environment variables doesn't work, but thanks anyway!

I forgot something to say: I'm using at the same time ANSYS 9 Workbench for some quick simulations, so i have 2 lmgrd-services...

looks in the license-manager like this:

So i had an idea and changed the path to the lmgrd.exe, now its the path to the lmgrd.exe ANSYS is using...

ok, lmgrd is started, but now there are some other problems...aaaargh... maybe there is a problem concerning existing ANSYS' license daemon...but i think it has to work anyway

i`ve the same prblem with my I-DEAS NX11 on WinXP OS.
The license service use 100% of CPU.
I found simply way:

i`ve just installed another OS - Win2000. (with service pack up to 3!! - above SP3 i`ve got the same error!!!)
So now, i`m having 2 OS:XP SP2 and 2k .

but it isn`t a rule.Just simply, I-DEAS works on some workstations and on the rest-NOT

First off all: Thanks to you...you were really engaged to help me...thanks!

Today i installed the same version on a second partition (secondary hard disk) with the same OS (Win XP SP2)....and it works!!! Don't know why...but it works....
