I have a lathe and a drill press I need to wire up. They are mounted to a concrete floor. In order to get the conduit to the equipment I will need to either cut a path in the concrete or use a flexible cord, plug, and receptacle. I cannot find where the cord option is legal according to code. I would appreciate any clarification that anyone can give me. Thank you.

Often this stuff is brought in overhead in standard conduit and then vertically dropped in conduit down into the machine disconnect cabinet. This keeps it out of the way and clean.

If the machine is quasi-moveable then at the bottom of the vertical conduit you put a receptacle and use a standard cord with a plug to connect to the receptacle.

Whether it is legal probably depends on which laws you are governed by. In the UK it would be acceptable if an appropriately-rated plug and socket were used in a correctly-designed installation.
