Hey Guys,

So I have a wood stair landing only a couple of feet off of the ground., I am wanting to just build it up with studs, but if I do this, how would you go about attaching the studs to the concrete slab? Would you install a bottom plate and anchor it down? That seems like overkill to me but I wasn't sure what is standard practice. Any Ideas are appreciated

Thanks!

Just use short 4x4 PT posts in each corner. Ideally they are set on sonotube footings and not just a concrete slab and you can use a 4x4 simpson post bases (ABA's are usually easy to get) with concrete anchors.

A bottom plate with shot pins at the short stud walls should be sufficient. Maybe anchor bolts if you are concerned about lateral forces.

If it's indoor like the landing in my garage, I put in Tapcon screws thru the BC post bases to secure it down.
