I'm designing steel stairs that are using bamboo, Brazilian Cherry or ash as the treads which are 10" wide x 2'-8" length. Is there a site where the structural properties for these species can be located? Or is it a situation where these species of wood are laminated over a structural grade plywood that supports the load?

TIA

Mechanical properties most commonly measured and represented
as “strength properties” for design include modulus of
rupture in bending, maximum stress in compression parallel
to grain, compressive stress perpendicular to grain, and shear
strength parallel to grain.

See Table 4–3a. Strength properties of some commercially important woods grown in the United States (metric

I would consider using 2x12 tread to obtain the 11 1/4 inch width commonly used.

Thanks Boo1. Appreciate the response.
