I am writing a spreadsheet and trying to come up with the values they get. I can match the yield mode values they get. But what is the lateral capacity value? See attached.

Also I cant get the group factor to match. Not sure what values internally they use for wood species. Anyone have a spreadsheet to check my group factor calc?

My spreadsheet right now is for a wood member in double shear (plate each side)

I have not done my Cdelta calcs yet.

I do not use woodworks, but it looks like the failure mode calculation for double shear in your calculations match the woodworks output. For what it is worth, I get similar values as you from an old 2005 NDS spreadsheet (Titled 05NDS.BOLTS - Not my spreadsheet so I will not share without permission, but it seems like I have seen it linked here or through AWC.), You may want to check your Cg calcs. I get 0.999 for very similar Rea, u and m values.

There is also some webtools available through AWC and at least one other spreadsheet floating around (see thread below)

Hope this helps

I'll take a look when I have a chance. (I recently wrote some software for wood connection design.)

Thanks. I will check my Cg calcs. For the WoodWorks Results, how do you think they came up with 4879 lbs??

Isn't the 4879 lbs just the adjusted capacity for a single bolt x 2, because you have a 2 bolt connection?

Yes, duh. I was thinking that the Cg factor accounted for the number of fasteners, but that's just adjusting a single fastener due to group action.

Thanks.
