Does anyone have a comprehensive world list of the building regulations by country (or website)? Essentially a Country Profile for each country with the Building Regulations used by each country (emphasis on building design and construction). I do realize that some countries don't have legally approved regulations. Thanks

Note that the FMGlobal thing is just a guideline. For instance, Canada's lists the National Building Code, which is technically a national code, but it only really governs in some specific places except where a province has directly incorporated it via legislation. Most building construction is governed by the substantially similar provincial building codes.

I've seen other lists like this, and they have the same sort of issues. Basically, use them as a starting point, but you need to do in depth local research before you commit to anything.

I would caution using any such list trying to identify the building codes of each country. The US doesn't even have uniform acceptance of the IBC. Each state enforces their own version, modifies the model code in their own way, and some states allow the local jurisdictions to determine which version to follow and what amendments to add. Like TLHS said, researching the building code yourself will be your starting point. Someone is applying for building permits anyway (hopefully). This is why having local consulting engineers is crucial to understanding what is need for each jurisdiction. Not only will they know what the building code is, but also how to apply it.
