Hello, all;
I'm looking for the definitive answer for which metals can be welded in the following case. A welder passes a SMAW-GTAW test on P-1 to P-1. The range qualified shows up as P1-P11,P34, P4x on the QW483 form.
I have several people who think this test qualifies the welder to weld inconel which is P-43. I disagree with their statement, since the P number is an essential variable in IX. There is some confusion due to the range mentioned above. It seems to me a separate test is required for inconel / Hastelloy, etc.
What say you all?
