WPS issue

Dear experts please tell me solution for following problem.

There is a PQR with following variables
Plate thickness 14 mm
Technique GTAW
Root with GTAW process with back pass
Question: Now my question is, can i use a WPS using aforesaid PQR without using Back pass. Keep in mind that according to ASME IX addition of baking is non essential variable while ASME IX does not address Deletion of backing.

No problem with the WPS but your welders must be qualified without backing.
Deletion of backing is an essential variable for welder qualification,

deletion of backing is addressed and essential for both wps and welder qualification.

addition of backing is not addressed since it's easier to weld with backing.

qualifying a welder without backing will result in the range qualified 'with or without' backing. - which is what dekdee said.

also you use 'back pass' in your first post, and 'backing' in your second post.

are you referring to backwelding, or backgouging to sound metal and welding? need clarification pls

The WPS must be revised to include with and without backing. Since the issue of backing is a nonessential variable, the WPS is simply revised.

Both of these statements are incorrect.

Deletion of backing is not addressed for WPS..only Welder Qualification
Addition of backing is addressed and non-essential.

root pass by tig
other passes by smaw
will you help me in doing wps for such a joint

I can dig a hole, construct a foundation, build a house, write a WPS, or sire your children, but like an old ho, I don't do something for nothing.
