If you run a wps on a514 1" thick plate in a 3G position without cvn in accordance with AWS D1.1 . Does that mean the wps is qualified in vertical position only 3G and 3F. But the welder is qualified in flat, vertical and horizontal. And the thickness is from 1/8"-unlimited. Can anyone please clear this up for me.

Thanks

Don't mixed up welder and wps qualification.
Your welder is qualified in several positions, but your wps is for vertical only. The welder may use other wps which is qualified/or prequalified for other position.

So if the wps would of been qualified with cvn the it would qualified for all position grooves and fillets but limited to 1/2"-2". Correct?

Which section of AWS D1.1 are you refering ?
What process do you use ?
CVN is applicable only for ESW & EGW (See Table 4.2 of D1.1). However, this test has nothing to do with position qualified.

Table 4.1 and 4.10
It was ran using FCAW

For WPS, use only Table 4.1
Table 4.10 is for welder / welding operator.

Then it's only qualified for vertical. They must submit another wps that is qualified in a 1G FCAW on 514 or can it be on 572 gr50.
