Im looking to see if anybody has experience fabricating piping supports from A992 Ibeams/Tees. I say Ibeams or tees because i cant gather if fabricators take i beams and cut the flange off one end or order a tee that only has a flange on one end. I have a current bid to do where the drawing requests WT 4x7.5 A992 material but i cant seem to find this material online anywhere. Would anybody with pipe support fabrication experience please help me here.

Thanks,

I don't know about fabricating pipe supports. But, a WT4x7.5 is a W8x15 cut in two piece down the middle of the web (you make 2 WTs from one W-shape). In the US, A992 is the most common steel for W-shapes.

That actually helps out a lot. Do you know of any reputable suppliers in the US for the W8x15 beams?

Cloya14:
Any steel fabricator in your area can make these WT’s for you, as part of your order for the rest of the steel you need for this pipe support system.

WT's are also a standard rolled shape, not just a W cut in half. You should be able to buy (or order) WT's from any steel supplier.

This is all great information. Thanks everyone!
