Dear All,
I am an engineer and a Yacht designer. My company just purchased NX10, after me pushing for it for a while. I have an issue with the Xform feature: I can not find a way to snap to poles while editing the surface. That sounds quite strange to me since you have tons of settings but apparently not the easiest one! That is the opportunity to move the poles around snapping to them. That is, in my opinion the easiest way to achieve the wanted result. By the way that's also how Rhino works....
For instance, let's say I want to move the pole A along the Z direction up to the pole B Z value.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

First you need to get the Poles of the target object (curve or face) to be visible, thus making them selectable. Select the Analysis Ribbon tab, then select the object(s) that you wish to see their Poles and then toggled ON the 'Show Poles' icon in the 'Display' group of icons on the Analysis tab. Now you can select the Poles if you've toggled on the 'Poles' option in the Snap Point section of the Selection Bar.

Note that once you no longer wish to see the Poles displayed, simply go back the Analysis tab, select the object(s) with the poles and then toggle OFF the 'Show Poles' icon.

Hi Bluebird,
Can you please share a picture of what exactly you want to achieve. X-Form works nicely on poles (dragging in any direction) so not sure why you are not able to do so.

Dear John, many thanks for your quick reply! I am a FAN of yours and you sorted my problem. it was just the poles Icon on the analysis ribbon menu to be displayed on! now I got it and all looks great. I had not been using NX for a while (I stopped on NX7) and it is amazing to see all teh improvement you guys have implemented. amazing. thanks again.
