Are XM-28 and 316 stainless equivalent? if not, how do they differ in their resistance to corrosion?

Could anyone direct me to a page where there is a direct comparison of these materials?

Thank you

XM-28 (S24100) is a Mn substituted austenitic grade (also known as Nitronic 32).
The alloy is high in nitrogen which gives it higher strength and somewhat improved pitting resistance. However with no Mo it is somewhat below 316 in pitting resistance.

If you don't need the corrosion resistance sure, but that was the original question. It could be free but if it doesn't work then it is still too expensive.
