Yield Strength of Lead 2

Hello-

I poked around my texts and googled a bit but couldn't find a reference for the yield strength of lead at ambient temperature. I won't be using this value for any analysis, but for an analogy - as in "it has about the same strength as lead" - so a ballpark figure would be ok. If there are any alloy questions, figure something similar to that used for split shot sinkers on fishing line.

So, does anyone know the yield strength of lead at say 70°F?

How about ultimate tensile strength?

Tensile Strength, Ultimate: 18 MPa (2610 psi)

Specification for pure lead limit impurities, don't give mechanical properties (at least ASTM B29 doesn't). A problem with yield testing is that lead creeps, so results depend upon strain rate. Alloying with Ca or Sb is typically used to increase strength. Pb-9%SB has Tensile Strength, Ultimate: 52 MPa (7540 psi).
More complex alloying is required before one also finds YS values:
Lead-Base Babbitt Alloy 15, UNS L53620
Tensile Strength, Ultimate: 71 MPa (10300 psi)
Tensile Strength, Yield: 10 MPa (1450 psi)
 
I've never seen yield strength on a lead spec or cert, just tensile strength, elongation and sometimes density. It must be very low considering how easily lead deforms.
