Hello,

browsing through Table Y-1 of ASME.BPVC.II.D-2019, it seems that Yield Strength values of plate material SA/EN 10028-7 X5CrNi18-10 do not correspond to ASME.BPVC.II.A SA/EN 10028-7 X5CrNi18-10 reference.

In it is stated that the Committee uses Fy0.2T as a basis for allowable stresses.

But I think the values of Sy in TABLE Y-1 do not correspond to Rp0,2 EN 10028-7:2016 Table 13 (which probably makes the allowable stresses not conservative)

In the end, the values of Sy, S are close to those of SA-240 304 material, which makes sense because they are similar, but I don't understand what I am missing here.

What do you think?

The focument says;

The values in the EN material specifications are guarantied minimum values, and they are guarantied by the material manufacturer, to support the design allowanle stresses in the PED. The values in the ASME Code are NOT guarantied minimum values. The footnotes in tables U and Y-1 of ASME Section II, Part D are very explicit in this regard. They are values that are appropriate for use in design according to the ASME construction codes that reference these values.

The process for developing the Table U and Y-1 values depends on a ratio trend curve according to the principles put forward by Dr. G. V. Smith some decades ago.

I do not go further than that it is in the documentt above.

Hope it helps.

Dear saplanti,

thank you for your answer. I know a little bit about the existence of trend ratio curves, and I understand the Committee states the values in the Code, but I didn't know the Committee procedure could "create" this "difference". I put brackets because I understand there is no comparison to make!

thank you again,

best regards
