I don't know of anyone that rents them, but I do know there are companies out there that will scan your stuff for you. One thing to bear in mind: Even though SolidWorks has Scanto3D, it isn't the cleanest/easiest thing. You very well may need a third-party software (such as Rhino) to make the conversion from real life to SolidWorks easier.

Just some food for thought.

Wanted to let you know of a company we found that lets you rent the z-scanner. Peak Solutions will 'rent' it for around $700/day.
