I have a current application of a bronze hub w 2 ears in combination w a ubolt holding up a sign on a pole that has a galvanized steel threaded pipe going into the hub... Can I replace the hub w a less expensive all zinc piece? Will the cast leaded yellow brass or galvanized steel pipe have corrosion or rust issues with the zinc?

Why not use a galvanized iron casting? It will be a cheaper option, without sacrificing any requirements.

If the Zn piece would have enough strength it should work.
You are getting rid of the brass completely, right?

Fastening a galvanized pipe to a cast Zn part is no problem.
Though as has been pointed out, if you need more strength just use a galvanized cast iron part.
Then everything in the system will be galvanized and have similar corrosion resistance.

Thank you for your input EdStainless and arunmrao. I am looking into galvanized cast iron. I guess I am more concerned with the cast leaded yellow brass ears, or the copper in it, that would go into the zinc piece. Would there be corrosion there if water was introduced

If there will still be a brass part, then yes you have a concern.
Leaded brass does not have very good corrosion resistance.

A picture of the assembly with the parts labeled would help us to help you.

I am leaning back towards casting the leaded yellow brass that was originally used... I can get it for $3.60/lb(500lb min.)... Would galvanized cast iron be cheaper than that?

Yes, by a lot, but the min buy might be too much.

The price could be about 40% of your target price. But a higher quantity will have to be ordered.
