Zero carbon air travel by 2050... or not

Well, that's the goal, anyway :)

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

It'll be interesting to see how that 'shakes out'...

Just wait until they start making us pay reparations for our CO2 emissions.

That'll get kicked down the road a few generations just like everything else. More sins of the fathers (sorry can't be gender specific so ancestors) crap.

It's OK Lionel... I consider 'fathers' to be binary, these days...

Funny... F1 racing is in the news of late. I wonder if (or when) this will go.

and NASCAR ?

I guess if aviation is going to get pushed into bio-fuels, then the extra for motor sports is minimal.

At least my sailing can carry on ...

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

He's got a point. Free EV chargers are more subsidies for the wealthy. He just made himself look dumb by underestimating the cost of "free" chargers to the tax payers.

EV may be the wave of the future, don't you think? [ponder]

Absolutely not. The current shortages and state mandates such as the ones coming from California are going to run the cost of EV's through the roof and we'll have to abandon the whole thing.

"If you don't have time to do the job right the first time, when are you going to find time to repair it?"

Air travel is too big an industry and won't go down without a fight. The EV industry barely exists (3% of production) aside from a bunch of pledges.

In motor racing (all forms) transporting people and equipment between events burns about 95% of the total energy.
The races are nothing.
Considering that SAF is 'carbon neutral' and not zero by any stretch it has a chance of working.
By 2040-2045 SAF will fuel private aviation and long-range commercial flights.
Short haul aviation will be a mixture of hydrogen (combustion or fuel cell), SAF, and who knows what else.
It will be interesting to see what the next generation of planes looks like.

Just one of many things... albeit small, but cumulatively...

Formula E is coming though. (Yawn)

Yeah, and put a bunch of cardboard cutout "fans" in the bleachers too. Perfect :)

I have no idea of how this stuff will change, or even if it does. We'll have to wait and find out. Texas can experience +40C... I wonder about +50C... curious mimes want to know...
