what is the purpose to use zero sequence current transformer? In what application that we need to use this?

Cable feeders in an industrial plant. Zero sequence CT around all three phase conductors only sees fault current, not load current. The ground fault relay can be set very sensitive.

rcwilson, is a zero sequence current transformer same as core balancing CT? Because a core balancing CT is also used to detect only fault condition. (Present around 3 phase Conductors)

A Core balancing current transformer and a zero sequence current transformer are the same thing.
