I have a quick question.

We've received some certified material as N60, that has the same heat lot number as some previously-supplied material. The original material is magnetic. The new material is not. We think our supplier is playing fast and loose with the CMTRs.

Is N60 magnetic? Does it become magnetic after cold-working or machining?

belated response,

austenetic stainless acquires magnetic properties depending on the amount of cold work and heat treatment used.

your melt analysis should control.
