Hi,

I am looking for any advice re. detailing of sunken slab i.e here a terrace that is 100mm. lower than the remaining slab at First Floor Level.

Any documentations or examples of Two way or One Way Solid RC Slab Detailing with sunken slab, holes or pitch roof design in CAD or PDF format.

Thanks.

Why a reinforced slab? Most "sunken" slabs are on grade. Do you have adverse soil conditions? A bit more info would be helpful.

Also...don't post your email address. It attracts spammers.

Hi,

I am asking for first floor or any other suspended floors that are supported on RC Beams and not Slab-on-Grade or oversite type of slab. Thanks for the email note.

You'll see details similar to those shown below for steps in the field of a suspended slab. Obviously, if the step occurs right next to a beam, the situation will differ accordingly.

Thanks KootK,

Here is a reworking of your detail with a 100 mm. drop next to a beam. Is this ok? Please feel free to correct. In my case, the slabs are simply supported as beam and slab are not cast in one operation but separately.

Also would you please give me some books or code references where I can get those kinds of information as I am also looking for details re. pitch roof.

As jayrod12 wrote, if you need continuity (tension in upper zone) i would prefer this detail of the upper reinforcement. (Tip: I find a slab of 125 mm ridiculously thin)
