Has anyone used a side-lap connection for a roof truss to a wall stud? Truss span is 40 feet.
I have a building that is CFS bearing walls. The ones I have done in the past had regular gable roof trusses. So we just set the trusses at 24" OC on top of the wall. We placed an extra stud under trusses not landing on 16" wall studs.
This structure has a flat roof with parapets. We are bypassing a wall stud up to the top of the parapet. This means the top plate (track) is interrupted. We have a added a chord angle to the roof.
My question is, I want to place a stud under each truss for bearing and bypass another stud for the parapet, but I expect to be asked why we can't just attach the truss to the side of the by-pass stud.
