Hello all,

I heard that it is not allowed to use SA-372 Grade E Class 70 for construction of pressure vessels by welding as per ASME VIII-1.
I wanted to know what the exact restrictions are, where are they written and if there is any possibility to use this material in ASME VIII-1 Pressure Vessel constructed by welding.

Thanks,

See Table 1-A Sec. II and Part UF of Sec. VIII Div. 1.
You will "hear" a lot of strange things in this profession.

One time, in a bathroom, I heard an old drunk, welding engineer talking about SA-372 Grade E Class 70 ....

It actually some task I been given,
To check if it is allowed to use this material for construction of pressure vessels by welding as per ASME VIII-1.

Any help will be great.
Thanks

As this is an assigned task, you should follow up the advice above by inspecting the text of the ASME B&PV Code.

Having a copy of the code on hand is a prerequisite to being able to design and fabricate code compliant pressure vessels.
