Hello,
I am currently dealing with a stayed (circular)flat plate design. I have multiple queries.
1)I have square cross section bar as a stay that is plug welded below the flat plate. so how do i decide the maximum pitch(p)? as per code it is(The maximum pitch is the greatest
distance between any set of parallel straight lines passing through the centers of staybolts in adjacent rows. Each of the three parallel sets running in the horizontal, the vertical, and the inclined planes shall be considered.)
2)should i consider the Total length X width as the load carrying area for the stay(UG-50)
3)there is a nozzle pipe penetrating through the flat plate to the base plate(as per attached sketch) and welded to base plate. so can i consider this nozzle as a stay & why?
reference sketch is attached.
