Faster Surface Modeling for Proposals and Concepts

We use GSD and Shape to do all our primary modeling, but with GSD it takes our designers more time to do proposals and concepts compared to our competitors who are using Rhino or other non-history based software tools.
My question is what design mode would work or be similar to the Rhino process?.
Do we set "Datum" to off and then what do we set "Keep" or "No Keep" mode to, to emulate best the simple and fast modeling process where we are not hindered time wise by the history based approach.
Bear in mind that we would not be modeling for change, as we do now, but would be modeling to get a proposal concept out as fast as possible for presentation to a client.

Will this work for interior furniture as well or is it only suited to organic compound shapes?
 
Operator skill >>> tool. There can easily be a 10:1 difference in speed between someone actually skilled at using software and someone who keeps repeating the first week of learned capability. Better training can help - often there are features available that make tasks far easier but, because they can take more than one step, users don't want to spend time to figure out how they work. Training can get them over that obstacle. Experience also helps. Experienced users can avoid time wasting detours.

If there is regularity to your product line then parametric procedural** models can be much faster as adjusting a few parameters can build new products, including the full documentation package. Parametric procedural models can also be commented so that the functions of features in the model can be compared to the requirements of the design and documented for their suitability.

That aside, a mismatch between user skills and user inclination and the software can certainly slow the process, regardless of the type of tool.

**History modeling doesn't capture history; what is happening is that a user is using an interactive user interface to build a program that acts as the procedure for the modeling software to follow. The user can alter the procedure (one cannot alter history) and change parameters to have the modeling software generate different results.
