HI,
I am trying to get two AM simulations working in Abaqus 2021. One is with a concentrated moving heat source, and the other is with a Goldak heat source model. The concentrated source works fine, but when I run the Goldak model, it throws a memory error after 10 increments. My device has enough memory, I have not changed any other parameters except for the moving heat source values and my model is also quite small to create any memory errors. Help me find what the issue is, please.

Are there any other errors or important warnings ? How large is this model (how many elements/nodes/DOFs) ? What is the memory requirement in the .dat file ? Also, you can try with less subdivisions (e.g. 3).

Required memory estimate is only 141MB according to my dat file. My model is really small anyway. I attached a picture of the no of elements, nodes and DOF on my file. But again I compared to the CHS model and they have the same values seems to work just fine.

What do you mean by subdivisions?

Hi,
Thank you this actually worked. Btw I have another question what is the subdiv X,Y,Z do exactly?. I checked the abaqus documentation and I couldn't quite understand. Does changing them affect the other values?
When I changed the subdivisions, I also changed the values of my other parameters. As you can see in the picture reference. I just assumed if the subdivisions change into cm then the other values will also subsequently change. I hope I was able to explain what my question?

Those subdivision parameters define the number of subsegments of a box representing the tool in box toolpath-mesh intersection approach. Check Figure 1 in the documentation chapter Box Toolpath-Mesh Intersection. There is also a description in the chapter ABQ_AM_MovingHeatSource_Goldak.
