Hey,
WKTaylor asked:
... Please advise... what is '...some Al aircraft control surface parts.'???????
It is pre-bent but not drilled skins that are about to become flap and aileron (for example).
Early on in this process it becomes "high value" due to time invested.
Regarding the...
Hello,
I'd like to use some temporary assembly technique on some Al aircraft control surface parts.
I'm planning on initially using 3/32 pulled all aluminum rivets in place of clecos in some places for
parts that will eventually have 1/8 CCP-42 (or similar) blind rivets.
This is to allow the...
We are trying to mount hinges to a control surface and subsequently attach that to mating hinges on a wing in the context of an experimental
(homebuilt) aluminum airplane.
It is convenient to glue one half hinge to the control surface on a jig for positioning, With this fixturing it is then...
Hey - reply to Will
What are your 4130 tubing [and sheet attachments] specification(s) and what is Your starting temper... IE; 4130, AMS63xx [MIL-T-6736, ASTMxxx] [etc] tubing and AMS63xx [MIL-S-xxx, ASTM xxxx etc] sheet plate; and what is the starting HT, IE: Normalized [HT95KSI], HT125-KSI...
Sorry to be unclear. The weldment I was failing to describe is to connect the roll control torque tube (which also reacts human powered pitch control inputs via the silver collar in photo) to the
aileron
pushrods which are loaded in tension and compression only. They are the common (Aurora...
Hello.
I am familiar with the FAA AC-43-13 which has guidance for repair via splice of 4130 tubing. There is mentioned there the
use of an external sleeve in no surprising fashion.
On the other hand there are these guys...
Hey - good point on the pilot logic supply. I'm trying to rely on that for uplocks (load holding) so I guess the only hope there is gravity and tapping at install time.
I'm trying to use antifreeze as the fluid and as it's 100 psi I expect no diesel effects and a worse time of self-purge...
Hey,
Thanks very much for the info. I was able to look up the specifics (solubility at temp for water in my case) and from that I can get enough of an idea to proceed with
prototype. In my case I'm probably going with something like dex-cool for the fluid and as it is a 100 psi working...
Hello.
I'm working on a hydraulic system for light aircraft landing gear retraction/extension.
Everyone I know that operates similar systems says it is very rare (like essentially never) that they purge/bleed the thing.
(These are owner/operators, so maybe others are solving that problem for...
Update: Clippard mjtv-5 is suitable and unlike the -4 has 1/8 npt ports for "exhaust" which are plumbed to tank if using oil.
Sorry for the bother but in case someone else is in need of this kind of thing...
Just got off the line with Clippard and to my surprise they work with oil or water as...
Hello,
Summary: I want to convert pneumatic 100 psi 3 cylinder (2 1.5 in 5 in stroke and one 1.5 in 3 in stroke) system
to hydraulic (water or atf or whatever works).
For this I need a suitable replacement for the current clippard MJTV 4 valve, which has 1/8 npt ports...
