    Impact force of sliding window

Trying to estimate some other approach for the reactions on the stiffest part of the frame, I modeled a type of support for the steel profile. With a load of 1KN e got a total deflection of 0.046 mm that translates on a stiffness of 2.17*10^7 N/m (wich is really rigid). With that I got a...

    Impact force of sliding window

@phamENG you are absolutely right! I've also considered this, but I need to simplify de approach to estimate some values. The sliding window has no bumpber, so the contact point are represetned on the picture below, on the regions you indicated on your scheme. The load is supported by the...

    Impact force of sliding window

My apologies if I was not clear initially, the sliding windows is intended to be sliding horizontaly at a certain velocity. The goal is to calculate the impact force on the steel profile on the side. @bones206 and @1503-04 I made a comparison with both of your approachs. What do you guys...

    Impact force of sliding window

Thank you all for the attention. I usually design the glazing solutions for windwpeeds and personal loads. But i'm being asked for the lateral loads expected for the usage of the doors. Some window panels are considerably heavy (+900kg) and it would be good to have a rought estimation of the...

    Impact force of sliding window

@XR250 it will slide sideways (horizontaly), the velocity will be imposed by the user (i'm estamating 0.2 m/s)

    Impact force of sliding window

Hi! Hope you all are doing great :) I'm in need of some tips/help regarding some forces for the design of a structure. I have a sliding window that will impact on a steel square profile (represented in blue). The glazing sliding window will have a total mass around 150 kg, a impact height of...

Bold Design for simply supported bens in bending

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing great. Recently, I have to design some bolt connection between two steel profiles for a simply supported beam, and I'm having some troubles on how to get the shear for the bolts conecting the steel profiles. The bolts are intended to be bolted with a 500...

Fastening design for bending moment of bolted profiles

Does anyone know how to properly calculate the shear force across the lenght of the bar? This would help desiging the bolts. Normally, I would assume that the diagram, but this would imply that the shear force on the middle bolt would be 0, that is not true according to my FE model.

Fastening design for bending moment of bolted profiles

Hi @desertfox Yes, you are right. Thank you again for your time and promptitude.

Fastening design for bending moment of bolted profiles

This is the expected forces I got from my FE model, but I would like to have this done trough hand formulae.

Fastening design for bending moment of bolted profiles

Hi Guys! I was thinking on a hypotetichal case. But to have some values heres an example: Imagine a 1 m simply supported beam, subjected to F=1kN/m. The spacing between the 5 bolts is 0.2m. @drawoh , thank you for your suggestion. This is just an theoretical case, as i'm planing on doing a...

Fastening design for bending moment of bolted profiles

Hi desertfox and BrianE22, Thank you for your reply, Perhaps I was not clear at first. Imagine this as a simply supported beam subject to loads on the yy axis. The maximum moment would be (P*L^2)/8. This bending moment would develop some shear forces on the bolts. This is the force i'm...

Fastening design for bending moment of bolted profiles

Hi! I'm in need of some assistance, and hopefully someone here can help me :) I have an aluminum U chanel that where a cladding will be fixed. This cladding will transmit forces according to the scheme below. This forces will tranlate on a bending moment according to the yy axis on the...

    Silicone Joint Calculation

Ok I got it :) It's basically a way to make sure the silicone bite has the desired dimensions. In that way, you are correct, there's really no way to make sure the seal has the desired dimensions.

    Silicone Joint Calculation

Dear @NalaCap0ne, Yes, this diagram is just for reference. I'm sorry but could you please explain what is a blind seal? I'm not a native speaker and more technical vocabulary Is sometimes a bit harsh to understand (I tried to google it but it just appear seals with red eyes lol). Is it a joint...
