Good morning all,
I have a question in regards to the required P4A documentation involving multiple parties. We are currently building a process boiler that has a design to ASME I, B31.1 & B31.3. I have a fabricator, (2) installers and the engineering firm of the Boiler. To try and clarify, I...
Thank you DVWE , is there a code case or any sort of explanation that backs this up ? Or is it to be assumed that since it doesn't say UT shall not be used - you can use it.
Am I interpreting the code correctly in ASME IX 2015 : QW-304 that with GMAW-S you cannot use RT but that tells me that UT is an option for qualification purposes. I am being told that UT in lieu of RT is not permitted.
What code would all of the new piping welds inside of the power plant be made to ? Is it A.P.I 1104 or does it change to something else ? I was told that it is 1104 until it gets to a distribution skid , then changes to B31.1 to the burners but that doesn't sound right to me .
Thank you for...
Just for clarification , where do these supply tubes fall into boiler proper on this particular unit's steam flow pertaining to Figures 58.3.2 &/or 58.3.3 of ASME Sec.1 ?
I re-highlited and attached the drawing to show where I was referring to in the original...
Metengr,
I know it is difficult to see but on the right hand side - We are going to re-install the piping from the roof tube outlet header to the primary superheater. This would fall into B31.1 correct ?
Please see...
The customer is saying to RT per code and give a reference to >750 degree F temperature and >2" NPS which is taken from B31.1.
The pipe material is 6 5/8" O.D X 1" M.W. I am saying that these supply lines are still under ASME Sec. 1 and do not need RT'd per code.
I checked PG 58.3.2 & 58.3.3...
ASME Sec. 1 is a code for construction , not repair but under table PW-39.1 defining nominal thicknesses it mentions material repair under (C)
For the scenario that I am in now - On the secondary superheater outlet header ( SA 335 P22) socket welds ( SA 213 T22 tube stubs). We are chasing...
Good morning,
The customer wants their furnace walls overlayed where we installed new panels. The panels are already overlayed with inconel 622 and they tie into existing panels that were previously overlayed with stainless ( I think a 309 stainless of some sort ).
I told them...
Thank you for the replies.
We were planning on seal welding it to the floor with approx. a 3/16" seal weld. But with the flex in the floor and the plate itself, I didn't know if there was somewhere that said you had to put a plug weld every X amount of feet. I didn't even know what the...
