Grounding in multipule locations on a transmission line and circulating current

We had about a 15 mile stretch, 3 cranes at different towers within that 15 mile range. At each of the crane sites we installed grounds to create the equipotential work zone. The ground switches were also closed at both ends of the line. We were not working on the lines just installing cell site...

Grounding in multipule locations on a transmission line and circulating current

We will have three cranes installing some new steel at the top of some towers between deenergized transmission lines. The towers are all within a 15 mile stretch of the transmission line and some of the guys are worried about "Circulating Current" between the three sets of grounds that will be...

Hollow core copper used for 240kv transmission lines

Thought about that but unfortunatly the line crosses over a ton of other lines that were built after this one was installed. That is why changing it out got put off so long. They waited too long and now it's breaking down. I am afraid that even the metal thieves know enough to leave this one...

Hollow core copper used for 240kv transmission lines

Thanks, I checked out what had been discussed in the forum a few months ago. I wasn't able to get a lot of info but did find out that we should have changed this stuff out back during WWII like most others did.

Hollow core copper used for 240kv transmission lines

Looking for any info about hollow core copper conductors used as a 240kv transmission conductor. We seem to have one or maybe even two styles of hollow core conductor in our system and I am interested in learning more about them. One of the conductors has an outer stranded copper layer over a...
