    Nozzle Reinforcement

Hi, I would like to know the difference between 1. Reinforcing Pad 2. Doubler plate and 3. Insert plate.

Expansion Joint - BEM type Heat exchanger

Hi Kv, As a thumb rule, if you are getting abnormal tube sheet thickness then you have to go for expansion joints.

NOZZLE LOAD DUE TO RUPTURE DISK FAILURE

Hi All, I have been asked by stress engineer (Piping), if the pressure vessel nozzle is capable of withstanding the reaction load from the Burst of rupture disk (Rupture disk is placed on the vessel nozzle, in between piping and vessel mating flanges). I have never seen such load being...

    Alteration or Major Repair ???

Hi Evaristo, In my opinion, it is a major repair and qualifies to be given R stamp.

Oil and Gas Pressure vessel nozzle corrosion solutions

Hi, Epoxy Inserts or application of composite i,e epoxy impregnated glass fibre fabric on the nozzles. If yes, then yes they are Temporary repair only. If you want to go for permanent solution then wait for SD period and replace the nozzle.

    Strainer (Fabricated or Casted)

Hi Khan, I would prefer fabricated strainer. Yes, ASME allows both.

    Saddles with en 13445

Hi, Yes you can. However, if you want to stick to ASME then use ASME Section VIII, Division 2, for saddle analysis.

Query on applicability of TEMA section-6 Flow induced Vibration(FIV) correlations for Waste heat rec

Hi Gowda, In my opinion, we can't use TEMA for HIGH fin tubes vibration analysis. In TEMA under integrally finned tube, low fins tube are mentioned.

    Reducers

Hi Anolan, If i m getting it right, your's equipment nozzle size is smaller than the line size. If Yes, then it is a normal practice to use reducer (or Expander) to match the nozzle with line. The vessel Design code limit is the equipment flange face.

    pipe failure

In my opinion, poor welding and wrong procedure may have resulted in high residual stress and hence cracking.

    TEMA TYPE VMU

It's a double pipe heat exchanger but there is no TEMA designation for it.

    TEMA TYPE VMU

Funny though but some extra smart client likes to indicate a vertical exchanger with prefix V. (Although still not answering your question but some light in probably right direction).

    normalized rolled plate

ASME SECTION II-A. Heat treatment section 5 of SA 516. FYI! Normalized rolled plate is nothing but two process combined into one(As rolled while undergoing normalization.
