    Moving from PDMWorkgroup to DBWorks

Chris, Thanks for the response, I also found that post last week. Kellnerp, I have not been involved much yet with the entire process except for initial discussions about which program to go with. Ultimately the decision was made by management and our I.T. department. We are having a VAR come...

    Moving from PDMWorkgroup to DBWorks

In about a week the company I work for will be moving to DBWorks for our PDM system. We are currently on PDMWorkgroup. I will be an administrator of the new system along with 3-4 of my co-workers. Does anyone here have any information about making this switch that they would be willing to share...

Selecting components in graphics area / PDMworks

I believe what you are looking for is found here... Right click in PDM, and go to Solidworks Workgroup PDM Options. Go to the Vault tab. In the "Show selections in Project Manager for" area, make sure "part" is checked. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

    Fully Define Everything or Not?

I tend to leave fasteners underdefined (able to spin). Virtually all other components I will completely mate in place. I can tell when things are slow at my company by looking back at assemblies I have done and seeing the fasteners fully mated. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99...

Assembly question - will it fit ??

I would also look at "Clearance Verification". Both of these are under the "tools" menu. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

Assembly question - will it fit ??

There is a tool called "Interference Detection" that may do what you are looking for. I have not used it, so I cannot say for sure either way... Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

    flexible sub assemblies

You are correct sir. If you have a sub-assembly in an assembly, you cannot add an assembly level mate between two components in that sub assembly. You would have to add the mate at the sub-assembly level. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

    Lightweight Question

I just pulled this from the solidworks.com "knowledge base"... Question: Can a flexible sub assembly be loaded lightweight? Answer: No, a flexible sub assembly is always loaded as resolved. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

    Lightweight Question

I am not positive on this, but in System Option/Performance underneath the "Automatically Load Components Lightweight" it sounds like you may have the "Always Resolve Sub-Assemblies" checked, and maybe it should'nt be? Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

Solidworks/SAP CAD Integration with Cideon Software

I would recommend you ask about this on the solidworks.com forums also. I remember having seen posts there about this topic. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

    Problems printing large PDF's lately

Try hitting Ctrl-P to print, and when the print window pops up, hit "advanced" in the lower left hand corner. From there, check the "print as image" check box. We have had success printing larger PDF's after checking that box. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still...

assembly rebuild icon wont go away even after hard requild!

Also, it looks like it may be fixed in 2009 SP 4.0. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

assembly rebuild icon wont go away even after hard requild!

This rebuild "hiccup" was happening to me again today, so I did a little investigating. If you search for "S-034492" or "S-037560" in the Solidworks Customer Portal Knowledge Base you will get results that appear to be the issue, and the fixes they mention do seem to work. Aaron SolidWorks...

assembly rebuild icon wont go away even after hard requild!

I have had the same thing happening at various times since our company upgraded to 09. Im guessing it is an 09 "enhancement". Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

PDMWorks - Select active document in vault tree

Thats interesting, because it seems to work for me. If I open a drawing, then click on the drawing icon in my SW feature tree, it jumps right to it in the PDM tree. Of course, hearing that PDMWorks is not doing something correctly is not surprising... Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0...

PDMWorks - Select active document in vault tree

Steve, Try going to Solidworks WOrkgroup PDM Options. Then "Vault" tab. Check the "Show selections In ProjectManager" box. I think this does what you are looking for. If I check it, and then click on a part or assebembly in my Solidworks feature tree, it will then be highlighted in the PDM...

    Solidowrks: Rolled Stuctural Channel?

I lied. I just pulled up some of the curved parts the other guys have made at my company and I guess now they are creating their curved channel parts using a circular sweep. Aaron SolidWorks (x64)/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)

    Solidowrks: Rolled Stuctural Channel?

I also work for a conveyor manufacturer, and although I do not typically deal with our curved conveyors, I do know that other people in our company are using the flex feature for rolled channel sideframes. I believe there was alot of testing done in the early days to make sure the k-factors were...

    Tangent Lines

I believe you would be looking for Tools/Options/System Options/Display-Selection and "Part/Assembly tangent edge display. (At least that is what it is called in 2009, and I believe in 2006 it was the same. Aaron SolidWorks/PDMWorks 09 3.0 CADKey 99 R1.0 (Yes, still using it!)
