U-4(b) : A single system of units shall be used for all aspects of design except where otherwise permitted by this Division.
U-4(g) : Material that has been manufactured and certified to either the U.S. Customary or SI material specification (e.g., SA-516M) may be used regardless of the unit...
Dear Members,
I am designing a pressure vessel in accordance to ASME Section VIII Division 1. The unit system used in design is Metric system.
Shall we mention the metric system unit also for material in General Arrangement Drawing (Bill of Material).
For example, the material SA-516-70 shall...
TGS4,
Understood, Sir.
Are you planning to have a course near South East Asia?
Canada is far away from my location.
IdanPV,
Appreciate for sharing the reference.
IdanPV,
What software do you use?
What is the root cause of the error?
Is that because the very high load, and the stress or strain result is beyond the material model curve?
IdanPV,
Thank you for sharing the link.
I have read your topic before.
What would happen if the convergence is not achieved?
Does the analysis get error or what?
Dear Community,
I am working on the elastic plastic analysis of ASME Section VIII Division 2 Part 5.
The material is SA-285 Gr. C, the Design Pressure is 0.3MPa at Design Temperature 200degC.
I use the ANSYS 2024 R1 for the analysis.
The material model with true stress-strain curve has been...
LittleInch,
Yes, i have compared the B16.5 and EN 1759, but the EN not fully adopt the B16.5
For example, material A-182-F51 is not available in EN 1759, which is in ASME in the material group 2.8
Dear contributors,
Is it possible to use ASME B16.5 flange (pressure rating) to design pressure vessel by EN 13445?
Is there any specific requirement to be fulfilled?
Hi,
Can someone explain why EN1795-1 consider material grade up to 2.7 only while ASME B16.5 has material group no. up to 3.19?
I have similar case with this thread
The PV design based on EN13445, MOC is Duplex (X2CrNiMoN22-5-3, 1.4462)
If refer to ASME B16.5, it is same grade with A-182-F51...
Hi abbver98,
I see your reply regarding Particular Material Appraisal (PMA) somewhere in 2022 for ASME to EN material
It really useful to us, appreciated that
I also see in that thread that you have posted the sample of PMA form in .pdf
Could you please share it again
There is no requirement of minimum thickness to avoid distortion or shrinkage during weld-overlay.
Each manufacturer will have their own shrinkage calculation.
Normally, it will occurs at the both end only, like pipe for the example
In my experience, to have extra +10mm prior to bevel...
The original material SA-350-LF2 CL1 is impact tested at -50F
I have tried run the calculation in Compress. The stress ratio is calculated per 3.11.2.5(d) = MAWP of the entire vessel / MAP of the item itself (Flange)
Then it get reduction by 3.11.2.6 and from table 3.17, so the design MDMT of...
Hello,
Can someone explain why PV Elite has considered the impact requirement Duplex material as per Table B.2-13 as per EN13445-2?
If refer to the code, it should be as per Table B.2-14
Material : Duplex, X2CrNiMoN22–5-3, 1.4462
Hello,
I am working to design a pressure vessel using ASME Section VIII Division 2 2021 edition with design pressure 600psig, design temperature 270°F, and MDMT -66.2°F.
The material of construction is SA-350-LF2 Class 1.
As per material specification, the impact test temperature is only -50°F...
