Hello,
I would to try and combine two PQRs into a WPS.
PQR 1 is 3G with CVNs, materials welded API 5L X65 - API 2H Gr 50.
PQR 2 is a 6GR without CVNs, same filler metal as above only changing the materials (API 5L X65 - API 5L X52).
Intention is to have PQR 1 qualified for ALL positions. PQR...
Hello,
I need to conduct PWHT on a material S460 material and would like to know which type of material would handle better the PWHT:
- N (Normalized)
- QT (Quenched and tempered)
- TMCP (Thermo Mechanilly-Controlled Processing)
Which one would handle best the PWHT and which one will handle it...

Sorry for the late response.
This is governed by the specification that requires PWHT. As mentioned by gtaw and weldstan AWS D1.1 refers to the specification as itself doesn't contemplate PWHT. I have read the complete specification and it is based in LR rules for offshore structures. The good...
Hello, I have the following question.
We have welded a trunnion to a pipe with a full penetration single side weld. This weld, because of the thickness of the trunnion (65mm), has required PWHT as specification requires PWHT for thickness over 40mm. After being treated, a modification of the...
Al, in production we want to be sure there will be no problem, so as you say I think I will do 2G (qualifies F, H), 3G up (qualifies V up) and 4G (qualifies OH), and to comply with CVN I will do impact testing only on 3G up (according to table 4.6 qualifies all). Like this I imagine I cover...
Thank you very much guys, so if I interpret correctly, for production team the best qualification to cover all positions will be:
- 6G or 5G if pipe is available
- 2G, 3Gup and 4G to cover as many positions
?
Is this correct or how would you qualify a procedure?
Thanks!!
Hello,
I am quiet new to this world of welding and I need help to develop a WPS with AWS D1.1.
I need to develop a PQR that qualifies me all the positions possible for a butt weld on a plate, for production welding, and this procedure will have impact requirements. I go to table 4.1 and the...
