    Flex an Assembly in SW2009

I have some nested tubes in an assembly. (Picture a coaxial cable.) I'm looking for a way to use the Flex feature efficiently so they will bend as a group. Is there a better way than defining a Flex feature in each of the components? What would you recommend? Thanks!

    Accelerometer mounting methods

Sorry I don't know a reference off hand, but the deviations depend largely on frequency. Studs and cyanoacrelates are probably your best bet depending on the environment. Higher frequencies are lost in a poor mounting. If you use an adhesive, be sure to have a thin film.

    Mechanical rates and contracts

I have 2 questions. I've recently incorporated a company to do some product design and development consulting work and am on the verge of starting a small project with my first client. I'm wondering a bit about liability since hearing about people suing McDonalds over spilled coffee. Is it...

    Soldiworks on a Macbook

Thanks, but I understood that this discussion is centered on Macbook PRO with more emphasis on high-end performance with complex parts and assemblies. I have a measly macbook (not pro) and was wondering if anyone had any success (or failures) trying SW on a less powerful machine...

    Silver plated Nitinol

I'm looking for someone experienced in plating nitinol wire. I'm looking for 6' pieces and long lengths of wire 500+ feet. Any suggestions? Thanks Mark

    elastic strain limits

Thanks for your suggestions thus far, but this should not be so complicated.... Here's some specifics. The wire will have a diameter between 0.4mm and 0.5mm and is bent around a radius of about 8mm less than 100 times. It must spring back on its original shape after being deformed. It must...

    elastic strain limits

Hi All, thanks for your responses. Irsrealkk, Can you give me an approximate number cycles when you talk about fatigue properties of NiTi? 10's, 1000's, 10^6? The 8% is not so much a requirement, but more of a benchmark. The requirement is closer to a 3% minimum. I'm hoping to find some other...

    elastic strain limits

I'm comparing different metals that could be used to make a particular spring/flexure. In this case the amount of strain possible without plastic deformation is an important parameter. Does anyone know of a material that could be comparable to NiTi (Which I believe can undergo about 8% strain...

    viscous pore/orifice flow

I'm looking for a guideline for approximating flow velocity through a pore or orifice for a given pressure and viscosity. eg My pressure differential is 13 kPa The pore/orifice size is 0.5mm Will a fluid with a viscosity of 1000cP be able to flow through this hole? What would be its...

    Training your replacement

--interesting insights. As a new business owner I would like my first clients to provide good references for those that will come after them. I think that offering training within the context and topics of the deliverables my assignment here is reasonable and I will not withhold any...

    Training your replacement

This is interesting! I am in Europe. But this would be for a consulting contract that is ending and probably not going to be renewed. -So I guess "laid off" may not be the correct terminology.

    Phsycal Wire Selection

I'm looking for a thorough wire design/selection reference from a mechanical point of view. More specifically, I would like to select the best type of electric wire (~AWG 24) to survive bending fatigue over a temperature range from about 0-100C. Recommendations vendors?
