    Canteliver deflection

KootK, there is no concentrated load yes i am talking about downward defelection at the time of construction it was actually lifted up 4cm. and now its 7cm down

    Canteliver deflection

i have a cantilever slab that is 1 year old. its span is 2.2m. it has already shown a deflection of 7 cm. when does deflection become too dangerous? and a sign of failure?

Does SRC concrete reach design strength in 28 days?

SRC concrete (Sulfate resistant concrete ) is mixed using type 5 cement ( High sulfate resistant cement) Now, type 5 cement reacts slower than type 1. because of the lower C3A content. Doesn't that mean that SRC concrete will take longer time to reach the strength that OPC concrete will reach in...

use of rust remover on Rebars

It should state if the residue will affect the bond i don't believe it is manufactured for use on Rebars, i think it is manufactured for use on other steel. like metal equipment or something. but contractors use it without thinking

use of rust remover on Rebars

Appreciate your help i realise that little rust is even better as it enhances bond my main concern is this material, i see a lot of contractors using it. it leave a layer on steel and on concrete in the construction joint. Have you ever seen such a practice? cleaning rebars with chemical rust...

use of rust remover on Rebars

Hello, i noticed that some people use a chemical rust remover on Rebars. is that Allowed? it leaves a white phosphate coating on the rebar! and that coat sometimes get to Concrete in the construction joint! i noticed that ACI didn't explicitly addressed this work practice. any thoughts?

    PCC under footings

Here were I work, We are used to pouring a 10 cm plain concrete layer below footings. It's also required to be 10 cm wider in every direction. We do it under isolated footings, strip footings... almost under all types of footings. Is it required by ACI? and what is it's role? Thank you

    Openings in a DOME

mr dik, so you believe it is not that dangerous? do you think its possible to procced without doing an analysis to consider the openings? or is it necessary to hold untill doing the analysis?

    Openings in a DOME

the superiors are worser. you might say that i am in the middle of people who are engineers by name only. they lack knowledge, and because of that they don't see the dangerous consequences of what they do. so if you can be of any help, plz.

    Openings in a DOME

No i am not the structural engineer, but i don't trust my structural engineer. his instructions are to just go ahead and cut the steel as the dome is already lifting its self ( i have no idea what he means by that, may be he means that the concrete alone is enough ). that's why i asked.

    Openings in a DOME

Hello, I have a RC dome that have around 36 openings. these openings are located at three levels, 12 openings at each level. my concern is that these openings will cut some of the reinforcement steel. it will cut one-third of the reinforcement at the first level ( closest to support ), and...

    Canteliver bars development length

hello, is there in ACI code a development length formula that is specific for calculating bar development length in canteliver beams? or is it just one global formula that is used for calculating bar development length in all members, simply supported beams.. cantelivers ... etc. the reason...

steel plate emdeded in reinforced concrete

hello, it is well known that if two metals are embedded in concrete, they trigger corrosion.( disimilar metal corrosion ). https://www.cement.org/learn/concrete-technology/durability/corrosion-of-embedded-materials then how is it possible to weld steel plate to rebars in concrete without...
