Help HowTo: FactoryTalk 7.0 conversion to 6.1 or 5.1

I've got a FactoryTalk HMI program written using 7.0 with a runtime version of 5.1 (because PanelView firmware). Can I convert to 6.1 or 5.1 easily. My customer tried to restore the file using the runtime, but he got message "You cannot restore the application from the runtime version. It was...

    House Settling 3+ inches

Well, I've certainly received a lot of great information from you all. I sincerely appreciate it. Could you give me some idea of what would be a proper testing methodology for this situation. That may be a loaded question, but I'm looking for info like # of test borings, depth of borings...

    House Settling 3+ inches

snubbed by the geos, huh? Man, that hurts. Tough crowd. Hard as rock (rim shot, then come the boos) I certainly appreciate the tolerance shown in this forum

    House Settling 3+ inches

Thanks, hokie66. There are a couple of trees of size around, but assuming a root ball equal in size to the spread of the tree, they don't come within ten+ feet of the house. I'm curious what trees can do in a situation like this. Please explain. As to the construction, and this is prime...

    House Settling 3+ inches

Well, it was deleted again. I know I'm whining here, but isn't it a bit of a gray area to be that restictive about what's deserving of posting or not? I mean, if I can't ask professionals for advice about a subject directly related to their profession, personal or not, then should I just...

    House Settling 3+ inches

csd72, I'll see what I can do about posting the report. renko, Thanks for the link. By the way, why would my post have been deleted over at the geotech forum? Is that improper or something? It was there for a short while after I reworded the subject line, then it disappeared. Without an...

    House Settling 3+ inches

Thanks for all your replies. Mike, I tried to post in geotech forum, but somehow it has been deleted. Not happy about that. Last summer was pretty bad, but I would be surprised if it was that order of magnitude worse than any other year over the past 15. Of course, maybe it was that little...

    House Settling 3+ inches

frv, thanks I've cross-posted on the geotech forum. The more the merrier :) csd72, I'm going from bad memory on some of this, so I may not have the answers, but here goes: 1) An engineer did go out to the site and did some work and a report was created (nice and vague, huh?) 2) A fix, to the...

    House Settling 3+ inches

Looking for a little help or opinion here. My brother has a slab on grade house that has "settled" over 3 inches during the past year. It began in the interior of the house and has, just over the past couple of months, begun to settle in other areas (ie front porch, sidewalk, etc) Insurance...

    Cooling Coil Water Quality

Anyone ever heard of any minimum quality spec for water in a cooling coil? I assume this is in regards to calcium, bacteria, etc. If so, what is the standard way of communicating water quality requirements? The application is a SS cooling coil inside a slurry tank. Thanks. Caravoy

Copy to Clipboard prompts Autosave (or similar)

Yeh, my bad, I meant Ctrl-Insert. Using pull-down menus does the same thing. In the meantime, the problem has disappeared, not just at my machine, but others as well. Either the IT department did something without telling us, or perhaps I'm a bit crazy. Equal odds, especially since it's Friday:)

Copy to Clipboard prompts Autosave (or similar)

IFRs, I couldn't get Ctrl-I to do anything. As soon as I finish selecting the object(s) to copy to clipboard and acknowledge that fact by clicking right mouse button, or hitting enter, some sort of save is triggered Chicopee, it's not related to the time setting for auto saves. If I copy to...

Copy to Clipboard prompts Autosave (or similar)

For whatever reason, when I (and others in the office) copy to the clipboard (in 2005 and 2000) a quick save, or autosave, is triggered. As we output certain information from AutoCAD to other programs upon these saves, this is pain as it slows things down unnecessarily. Anyone know how to...

    IP 67 Electrical Enclosure

Thanks everybody for your info. I certainly appreciate it. Mike2468, we tried positive pressure in existing controller, with only minimal improvement. It delayed the inevitable. Anyway, thanks again. caravoy

    IP 67 Electrical Enclosure

Good point. Yes, IP65 is acceptable. It's the "6" that is an absolute must-have with regards to the dust. Thanks.

    IP 67 Electrical Enclosure

Here's an idea fit for a Friday: I've got a robot control cabinet in an extremely dirty environment (foundry). The cabinet is rated IP54, and does not particular care for metallic dust getting inside it (from grinding and other metalworking). I'm looking to put this whole cabinet inside one...

    Exlar Roller Screw Actuators

Thanks. I was looking to replace hydraulic cylinders running off servo valves and using temposonics and hopefully go electric. Sounds like the industry is just not at that point yet. Thanks again for your help.

    Exlar Roller Screw Actuators

Anyone with experience using Exlar brand actuators (or any roller screw actuator for that matter)? I'm just curious as to reliability, duty rating, etc for foundry duty applications (i.e. very dirty, hot, abusive, etc.) Thanks. Caravoy

    Impact deceleration for robotics safety

In practice, you just don't want to get hit by the robot. Design so that at max reach with largest payload, there is no way to hit the operator. You can use turntables, slides, etc. If space does not allow, go with safety interlocks using axis limit switches, light curtains, etc. Showing...
